“Loud as fuck, scuzzy, but excellent nonetheless” Noisey

“Pop melodies shine through noise-fuelled art rock” NME

Crushed Beaks are Matt Poile (vocals and guitar), Scott Bowley (bass) and Tim Watkins (drums). They began life as a two-piece in 2011 – Matt and previous drummer Alex Morris having known each other from secondary school and university. They formed after some of Matt’s bedroom demos received buzz online, eventually recruiting Scott to flesh out their sound. They released their debut through Moshi Moshi and have received high praise from the likes of NME, Noisey, DIY, The Line Of Best Fit, BBC Radio 1, Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 6 Music and more.

Four years on from the release of their debut album ‘Scatter’, south London-based Crushed Beaks joined the Clue roster to release ‘The Other Room’. The band returned in confident mood, vocals more direct, lyrics more incisive and the overall theme of the album more confrontational. However, this confidence shouldn’t be mistaken for bravado, there’s subtlety and introspection running through the album, even in the more direct tracks.

‘The Other Room’ was named ‘Album Of The Day’ by 6Music and was released on 2 special vinyl editions, one a clear vinyl with orange splatter, the other a transparent orange vinyl, both of which sold out.

In early 2020 the band toured Europe as main support for legendary indie band RIDE after Andy Bell heard the band on BBC 6Music.
