In 1995, The Wedding Present released Mini on Cooking Vinyl Records. Mini – a 6-track EP – featured songs all of which had motoring connections.
Thirty years later, David Gedge has revisited the concept!

David Gedge says: “Sometimes I like to set myself little goals. When we embarked on the 24 Songs project it was an interesting challenge, attempting to replicate the Hit Parade’s ‘twelve singles in a year’ scheme from thirty years before. So I just thought I’d do it again!”
“As I said in the sleeve notes for the 40 compilation album, the songs we recorded for Maxi were written relatively quickly because I had felt particularly inspired, both lyrically – with situations occurring in my life – and musically – writing with the then recently arrived Wedding Present guitarist Rachael Wood. The resulting tracks feel bigger and moodier than we’ve had for a while, and they’re certainly rockier, thanks to Rachael with her armoury of guitars and pedals!”
